Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 7, 2026

1. Introduction

Pocket Ledger is a personal finance tracker provided by Just Simple Style. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app stores or processes, how it is used, when data may be shared through user action or third-party services, and what controls are available to you.

2. Ledger Data You Store In The App

Pocket Ledger lets you manually store finance records on your device, including accounts, categories, templates, income, expenses, transfers, budgets, savings goals, recurring bills, debts, notes, dates, currency, region, week-start settings, and security preferences.

Your manually entered ledger data is used to provide app features such as transaction lists, stats, budgets, reminders, widgets, imports, exports, and backups. We do not operate a Pocket Ledger account system for uploading your complete ledger to our own developer server.

3. Imports, Exports, And Backups

Pocket Ledger can import or restore data only when you choose a file or paste backup content in the app. Supported user-initiated imports include CSV, Excel workbook data, and encrypted .plbackup ledger backups.

Pocket Ledger can export data only when you request an export. Supported exports include CSV transaction files, Excel workbook files, PDF stats reports, and encrypted .plbackup ledger backups.

Exported files are shared through Android system share flows using a private FileProvider. After you choose another app, cloud drive, email client, or destination, that destination handles the exported file under its own terms and privacy policy.

4. Network, Analytics, Crash, Ads, And Configuration Services

Pocket Ledger may use network access for product operation, third-party diagnostics, analytics, and configuration. These services may process information such as app interactions, approximate device information, app version, operating system version, crash logs, diagnostic identifiers, installation identifiers, and network state.

The app may use Firebase Analytics to understand aggregate app usage, Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose crashes and reliability problems, and Firebase Remote Config to configure app behavior. The app does not currently include an advertising SDK.

These third-party services are not intended to collect the full contents of your ledger, backup passphrase, PIN, biometric templates, or exported files. Avoid placing sensitive personal information in transaction notes if you do not want it visible in screenshots, share flows, or system surfaces you choose to use.

5. Permissions And System Features

Pocket Ledger may request or use these Android permissions and system integrations:

  • Network access: used for third-party services, diagnostics, configuration, and advertising where included in the installed build.
  • Notifications: used for optional recurring bill reminders. Notification content is marked private where supported by Android.
  • Run after device restart: used to reschedule enabled bill reminders after reboot or app update.
  • Biometric authentication: used only for local app unlock when you enable biometric unlock. Android handles biometric verification; Pocket Ledger does not receive or store fingerprint or face templates.
  • Home screen widget: can show a ledger summary on your launcher if you add the widget.
  • Quick Settings tile: opens Pocket Ledger or the add-transaction flow when you add the tile.

Pocket Ledger does not provide banking services and does not require bank-account credentials for its core manual tracking workflow.

6. Security

Pocket Ledger supports PIN lock, biometric unlock, auto-lock, and encrypted full-ledger backups. Backup passphrases are required to restore encrypted backups. If a passphrase is lost, Pocket Ledger cannot recover it.

The local Room database is protected by Android app sandboxing but is not independently encrypted with SQLCipher. Unencrypted CSV, Excel, and PDF exports are created only after an explicit user action and are handed to Android system share flows. Android system backup is disabled for Pocket Ledger app data where configured by the app.

7. User Control And Deletion

You can add, edit, archive, restore, and delete ledger records inside the app. You can also export your ledger, restore an encrypted backup, roll back the latest import when available, reset local ledger data from inside the app, and remove widgets or Quick Settings tiles through Android.

Uninstalling Pocket Ledger removes local app-private data from the device. Exported files that you saved or shared outside the app are controlled by the destination where you saved or shared them. Third-party diagnostic, analytics, configuration, or advertising data is retained according to the relevant provider's retention policies.

8. Financial Disclaimer

Pocket Ledger is a manual tracking tool. It does not provide banking services, loans, credit scores, debt settlement, investment advice, tax filing, insurance, payments, or financial advice.

9. Changes To This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, third-party services, legal requirements, or product behavior changes. The updated policy will be published on this page with a new effective date.
